Recently I dropped and broke a tiny glass bowl. It broke it my bathroom and I thought, no big deal I’ll pick up the pieces by hand, give it a quick clean up with my little dust pan and brush, and be done with it. Then I looked down and ........ saw what looked like thousands of pieces of shattered glass on the floor. I was surprised to see so much glass and couldn’t imagine a tiny little glass item could have so many broken pieces.
As I started to clean up the glass, I also noticed it was spread out in several locations, including a piece stuck in my bathroom brush which faces a wall. I thought, the funny thing is if I tried to recreate this piece of glass magically falling into a brush that faces a wall, it would be pretty much an impossible task. It was at this moment that I started to consider the meaning of this event and what was unfolding. Lately I’ve been working on releasing some old stuck energy and had the idea that once you find its source or the “the missing piece”, you can simply fix that one piece and be done. Seeing all of these glass shards told me a different story. The message was that growth and healing typically are not limited to one piece (i.e. trauma, belief system) and often there are many pieces that comprise the whole of something. Those pieces can be located in the most unexpected spots and hidden in dark, closed off corners that we typically wouldn’t explore. This makes it important for us not to “brush over” things, assume you have resolution, and believe your healing is complete. It’s about recognizing there are multiple pieces that make up the whole and part of the journey is to find and then illuminate all of the pieces, even the ones in the most obscure spots, which ultimately brings you closer to wholeness. As I continue to strive to live in the moment and journey through my personal self-healing, I will remember today’s message and the fact that they come to us in the most interesting ways when we’re paying attention.
